NEC-LIST: Compiling NEC under Linux

Dear NEC Users

I am considering switching to Linux and have a basic license for the Intel compilers.
I would first need to establish a development environment so I can
compile a number of Legacy programs, NEC4 being the first.
Which version of Linux would be best ?
