NEC-LIST: Why the 30 wire connection limit in Nec ?

Does anyone know why 30 is the wire junction connection limit? Wouldn't it
have more to do with whether the segment centers of adjoining wires intersec
trather than with an arbitrary number.

Can the limit in Nec be changed without degradation of the model?
