I think T.T. Wu used a refinement of Hallen's equation. I believe that Schelkunoff's method was more approximate - OK for the pre-computer era.

Schelkunoff's biconical antenna approach is reasonable, but i suspect it
breaks down for electrically long dipoles of length greater than, say 3
lambda. Comments anyone? What about Hallen's approach? g
