Hello Darryl,

I have some small experiences modifying and using the nec-2 sources. Maybe I
can give some hints..

For as far as I know thers is not such a limit. It there is one it's around
32767 (max integer*2 value). However, there may be a problem concerning thas
max-amount of adressible memory. I know nothing about Mac's or it's
compilers. However I know about people running over 10000 segments using
nec2dxs on windows.

No, not from my memory and without a closer look at the source-code. At
least if nec2 is comparable in this with nec4.

I once made the max-number of LD's agree with the number of segments and
succeeded running 5000 segments with this. However as I said this was done
using nec2 and I do not know how this also works with nec4 which was written
in a later Fortran version.
