Useful simplified data without diurnal and seasonal variations can be obtained from CCIR-670, 1990 and also from NOSC Tech. Rept. 361, Oct. 1987.

Good day,
I have a copy of CCIR Report 65 "Revision of Atmospheric
Radio Noise Data", ITU, Geneva, 1957 which has maps of
average noise contours for six time blocks and four season,
and curves of average noise vs. frequency to go with them.
A search of the web and a reading and search of the ITU web
site indicates that the most recent such data is CCIR Report
322, from 1963, but this doesn't seem to be available
anywhere. I did find an ITU Opinion that there are errors
in 322 which ought to be fixed. Whatever their utility, I
think a sample of these maps and curves has instructional
value.
1. Is the data in 322 significantly different than the data
in 65?
2. Is there an electronic version of these maps anywhere?
Thanks,
Doug Miron
