NEC-LIST: NEC2Dxxx and Win2k

I have run the NEC2D compiled codes for many years on my Win95/98 boxes
(the ones NEC2d512.exe, NEC2d1k4.exe, etc., that are/were available on the
"unofficial" NEC archive web page). Now on Win2k they don't run at
all--stack exception error. So either
1. The compiled code won't run as-compiled on Win2k or
2. Operator Error with Win2k is keeping me from being able to run them.

If #1 I'm not in bad shape as I do have a FORTRAN compiler and can probably
hunt thru it to figure out how to recompile (though I use the compiler
about once every two years or so...). If #2 all I need is a helpful
pointer on how to run DOS .exe under Win2k. In either event I would be
most grateful for any info on how to proceed further.
TIA,
