I've heard vague comments about NEC not being very accurate for
simulating patch antennas. Does anyone have any guidelines? I'm going
to try and simulate various single layer antenna patterns which we'll
integrate directly onto our board.
In the NEC manual I read that for surface modeling patches should be
larger than .04 wavelengths square, but seem to remember somewhere else
reading that they should be no smaller than .1 wavelength square for
patch antennas.
I looked at <A
HREF="http://www.e-technik.fh-kiel.de/~splitt/html/mstrip.htm">Multistrip</A>
which claims to be more accurate for microstrip antennas. However this
software only runs under Windows and due to available computing
resources need to run my sims in Linux.
Thanks in advance,
Rian Sanderson
