For certain simple object geometries and an assumed uniform field,
it should be possible to calculate the field in a ferromagnetic object
by analytic means.

In other cases you will need to solve this numerically. Finite element
programs, such as Opera-2D and Opera-3D from Vector Fields Ltd, offer
great flexibility in describing the object geometry. There is a very
good freeware 2D electromagnetic finite element code called
femm, which may also be applicable. More information on that
can be found at http://femm.berlios.de

Hi to everybody,

do you know how to simulate (using NEC or other tools) the magnetic
field inducted on an object when it is put into a magnetic field like
the earth's one?
Probably NEC is not suitable for this kind of analisys, do you know a
specifical software?

Thanks a lot

Andrea
