Missed this on the first round. I just finished figuring this out in GNEC.
In the viewer you can use the ! at the beginning of a line to comment it out
in the viewer but not in NEC4. In NEC4 the ! has to be at the end of a
legal line.

Sorry I misled you. I spoke too quickly. I've never actually tried this at
the beginning of a line. I just tried it and it doesn't work. The
NEC-WIN-PRO manual says that you can use an exclamation point to ADD
comments to a line as follows:
GW 1 5 0 0 0 0 5 .001 !example of a comment
I've done this on NEC-WIN-PRO, but never knew about it when I had
stand-alone NEC2. I hope it works for you. Even so, the only way you're
going to be able to comment out whole sections of an input file is to
backspace them on to the previous line and put the ! in front of the
unwanted section as above.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Regards,
John

Use an exclamation point at the beginning of the line you
want to comment
out.

The only method that I know works, is to
move the unwanted
cards to
after the EN card. Depending on what you
want to achieve,
you could
put a GE, followed by an EN card.
