Thanks all for the suggestions. Jim Lux's suggestion worked very well.
Open the Output file in Wordpad, highlight the desired data section and
"copy". Open Excel and "paste" the copied selection. Go to "DATA" and
select "Text to Columns". Select "Fixed Length" and Excel will show
proposed columns in your text data. Adjust as necessary and Finish.
It worked the first time and the data is good.

Not automatically. There are some excel macros around that parse output of
NEC.
I've had pretty good luck with cut and paste.
Open the NEC file in notepad
Open Excel
Highlight the output from NEC that you want, Ctrl-C to copy
Ctrl-V to paste into Excel, then do "convert text to columns" using fixed
columns.
