I find that my old Fortran MoM programs I wrote in the early 1980's run
infinitely faster than those compiled with Visual-Basic 6.0, and other trendy
languages. I write in about 12 different languages, and Fortran is a favorite.
However, there are many popular Fortran compiler, linker, editor tools available
today that are so buggy as to be useless. Some of the premier Fortran
development packages are no longer supported, and support groups are not very
effective in keeping the old products alive, tending to modify the code in ways
guaranteed to invoke the Law of Unintended Consequences. g
