Ken,

I used the box as an example of a closed structure. Of
course it would be modeled by at least six surface patches.
I don't use surface patches myself, so I leave it to the NEC
manual or other list members to help you. If you want to
model a printed antenna on a finite-sized substrate in
otherwise free space, I don't think you can do it in NEC.
There is, or was anyway, a free software package called
MSTRIP for this purpose that you can find on the web.
