Good day Jerry,

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I was having a little trouble
with "basis", I should have said maybe "basic" or
"component" functions for the constant, sine and cosine
functions. Isn't the total current at the center of a
segment the sum of A+C for the main basis function and A+C
for each tail function that has a domain on the segment?

I have solved analytically the general 3-segment basis
problem, with the condition that Am+Cm=1 rather than Am=-1
as in NEC2. I then wrote two MATLAB functions, one which
uses my analytical solution and the other which sets up the
equations and solves them. I get the same results from
both, so that's good. I next wrote a general data-fitting
function to illustrate and study how these basis functions
behave when fitting a data set with various properties. Of
course, this isn't how they're used in NEC2, but the effort
is to imrove my understanding and that of some readers.

Regards,
Doug Miron
