NEC itself will warn you if you make actual errors in syntax.
Many of the customized versions will warn you if you make "inadvisable"
models (i.e. segments too short, segment radii changing too rapidly, etc.)
Ultimately, though, NEC just grinds through the model you give it. If you
make a mistake in your model, it has no way to know that something is
unrealistic or unreasonable... it just calculates what it's given.
One of the values of "autogridding" and "autosegmentation" tools is that
they tend to generate output that is "reasonable" (because you're specifying
geometry at a higher level of abstraction) and that is less likely to run
afoul of various numerical problems (i.e. bad radii, acute angles, etc.)
