2003 IEEE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON EMC, ISTANBUL
MAY 11-16, 2003
Call for Discussion Topics and Questions for Discussion Forums and Call for
EMC Demonstrations
Discussion Forums
As a part of the 2003 IEEE International Symposium on EMC in Istanbul,
Turkey we plan to hold Discussion Forums on various topics compliant with
the criteria of being controversial, attractive and actual for a wide
audience of the Symposium. In the Call for Papers we called these forums
"Birds of a Feather" Forums.
The goal of these forum discussions is to provide an opportunity for the
Symposium attendees to get answers to their questions, and to witness
discussion of the subject by specialists in the field.
Forum discussions will be governed by the Forum Moderator and stimulated by
several experts in the field of discussion.
The Forum will be opened by a 10 to 15 minute introductory presentation by
the Moderator, after which experts will give short presentations, each
addressing the issue from a significantly different point of view. The
Forums are informal in nature and atttendess are encouraged to raise
questions to the Panel of experts and express their opinion on the subject
during the course of the discussions.
The suggested topics for Forum discussions are:
Topic #1: Grounding shielding and filtering in ungrounded equipment, such as
hand held devices, table top telephones, laptops etc.
Topic #2: System grounding methods.
Topic #3: Exposure to Cellular phone radiation - any aspects, and in
particular application of the “Precautionary Principle” in the use of mobile
phones.
Topic #4: Interference of personal electronic devices (PEDs) with airplanes.
Topic #5: EMI compliance measurements for standards and system compatibility
projections.
Topic #6: Electromagnetic Site surveys and their applicability to EMC.
We invite you to submit to us questions to be discussed in the course of
these discussions. You are also welcome to volunteer for the positions of
the Forums’ Moderators, Experts, or both. Please submit the above to the
following e-mail address: emc2003_at_ortra.co.il <mailto:emc2003_at_ortra.co.il>
EMC Experiments and Computer Simulation Demonstrations
We also plan to have different interactive demonstrations each day of the
Symposium, which will present EMC concepts, effects and measurement methods.
The demonstrations will include EMC EXPERIMENTS’ DEMONSTRATIONS of basic
principles of EMC, and EMC COMPUTER MODELING AND SIMULATIONS DEMONSTRATIONS,
in which various CEM modeling techniques will be demonstrated, intended to
present the capabilities, applications and characteristics of various
computer simulation techniques in solving EMC problems.
If you would like to know more about these activities or if you have ideas
for a demonstration and want to have it considered, please follow the
following hyperlinks to the respective pages: EMC Experiments’
<http://www.ortra.com/emc2003/demon-experiment.htm> Demonstrations; EMC
Computer Modeling <http://www.ortra.com/emc2003/demon-simulation.htm> and
Simulations Demonstrations
Deadline for submission of Demonstration proposals is January 15, 2003.
Kind regards
