Hi,
I have found from the study of comparisons of Norton's attenuation
factor over a plane earth with actual measured data, that the "flat
earth" assumption works to a reasonable distance, certainly at low
frequencies.
E.g. 55km at 1161 kHz and maybe a bit more possibly 75km.
