RE: NEC-LIST: Fano criteria

Contributions like those from Doug Miron and George Hagn regarding
Fano criteria and antenna matching are one of the reasons why I read
this list!

I am wondering about the effects on wideband signals due to two
phenomena which arise when using HF antennas with broad frequency
ranges: firstly, the effect of antenna pattern variations (lobe
azimuth and elevation angles, directive gain, etc.) with frequency;
and secondly, propagation effects. Both of these would produce
frequency-dependent amplitude and phase variations in the
communications channel (assuming the input to the channel is
considered as the input to the transmitting antenna, and the output of
the channel is considered as the terminals of the receiving antenna)
and therefore contribute to distortion of the received signal.

Can anyone comment on these effects in real-life wideband systems?

Regards,
