Probably, if you can get ahold of a bunch of Pentium II's for the
price of one Xeon, you should use multi-processor design. Also, there
is something on Linux called the Beowulf Project. It lets you connect
together a bunch of PC's to create a parallel-processor computer.
Supercomputer-class arrays have been built. I don't have the URL for
Beowulf, however a quick search of the WWW should help
