This is a round-about solution but if the commercial concerns need the
campus area so badly, let them pay for several shielded rooms on
campus. I would think the physics and electrical engineering
departments would need these the most. But as you know, properly
shielded rooms are not inexpensive. Even a shared facility for the
entire campus could be useful (and the interaction between scientists
and engineers would be an added benefit).
