Good day folks.
I recently saw a demonstration of a document archiving system by Excalibur
Technologies. Pardon my primitive understanding, but as far as I can
figure out, the system does not rely on character recognition as such, but
rather on the digital representation of the character, thus making it
possible to search across errors and hit 'best guestimate.' It also
renders images. I tested the system using keyword searches and the
results were impressive. One can view the document as scanned using Web
browsers.
The company is in San Diego, Tel. 619 625 7900, Fax. 610 625 7901
My contact here in South Africa for the demo was Piet Dempsey at
AVITRONICS. You can contact him at excalibur_at_avitronics.co.za and
possibly arrange for access via Web for a demo.
Have a great day, Duncan Baker.
