I ran the 1030 segment "benchmark" input deck proposed
by John Boyer under NEC2 on the following platform:
256 MHz SUN UltraSparc2 (dual 256 MHz UltraSparc2 processors)
256 MBytes RAM
716Mbyte swap space
4Gbytes disk
O/S: Solaris 2.5.1
I ran the following versions of NEC2:
1.) untransposed version compiled for single thread execution
2.) transposed version compiled for single thread execution
(the modifications to the source code on the untransposed version
are those described by Jerry Burke). The code was compiled for
1500 segments under the SunPro Fortran Compiler f77 version 4.0 .
The results:
NEC2 fill time factor time run time
256MHz
UltraSparc2
untransposed 93.4 sec 284.3 sec 385.4 sec
transposed 92.2 sec 490.7 sec 390.6 sec
