I ran the 1030 segment "benchmark" input deck proposed
by John Boyer under several versions of NEC2 on the following
platforms:
Sytem #1:
SUN UltraSparc2 (dual 167 MHz UltraSparc2 processors)
256 MBytes RAM
716Mbyte swap space
4Gbytes disk
O/S: Solaris 2.5.1
System #2:
SUN SparServer 1000 (6 50MHz SuperSparc processors)
768 MBytes RAM
1.3GByte swap space
30GBytes disk
O/S: Solaris 2.3
I ran the following versions of NEC2:
a.) untransposed version compiled for multithreaded execution
b.) transposed version compiled for multithreaded execution
c.) untransposed version compiled for single thread execution
d.) transposed version compiled for single thread execution
The results:
NEC2 fill time factor time run time
UltraSparc2
a.) 115.6 sec 418.9 sec 546.2 sec
b.) 106.2 sec 550.0 sec 667.6 sec
c.) 108.5 sec 418.1 sec 538.0 sec
d.) 106.9 sec 566.3 sec 688.1 sec
SparcServer 1000
a.) 314.2 sec 777.2 sec 1113.6 sec
b.) 327.4 sec 951.5 sec 1310.6 sec
c.) 436.6 sec 793.3 sec 1252.1 sec
d.) 441.8 sec 1054.0 sec 1517.8 sec
